Felted Teddy Bear

Well, i have been working away, and now my tebby bear is finally finished, it seemed that everything stood in my while i was making him, and so he has taken me months!

This is 'Toby', he is 100% felted using only wool, his outer fluff is Shetland wool, and he has been made to be fluffy, with a very think, close fur like appearance.  He is very soft to touch, but is very firm, he has a traditional stitch nose, which has been finished to have a satin shine, and he has glass eyes (from Germany).  Toby, is in one position only, he cannot be moved and no limbs can be posed.

The overall measurements are:  7" wide x 8" tall (to his ear)

Toby comes with a certificate of authenticity, signed with photos, he is 'One of a Kind' and therefore will not be replicated.

Toby is currently for sale on my bear page 'Woolly Bears'

Its almost here...

I have now set my date for my new project, this Feb is all about preparation, getting all the tools and equipment for such a large piece, and getting the studio finally moved around to accommodate it. I shall be giving write up's on my blog, updates on Facebook with loads of images. I would hope it will spark a little interest to what i do, and how fantastic it can really be. I shall be taking photos through the whole process, and i may even do some hints and tips. If you know of anyone that likes art, or wool, crafting or something new, please let them know. I shall post the blog link later this month, and im set to start this very exciting (for me) project, on the 1st March :) .... A little hint, it has something to do with horses xx

Giant Schnauzer

Now that we are well on our way into the new year, its time to get back to normality!  And get going with all the ideas overflowing in mind.

So, here i have my new - almost finished - piece, a side view relief of a Giant Schnauzer,  these dogs can have beards of varying degrees, but i chose a lovely picture of a dog, just growing out of his clip.  His eyebrows still showing the neat cut line, yet with slightly grown out, rugged looking beard.

I have created this portrait in the gorgeous white, which shows off the curves and contours of the fur, it also casts gorgeous shadows, giving it a real feel of depth.

The portrait - once framed - will measure a little over 10" x 11", this portrait will soon be for sale, if you were interested or would like one of your dog, please contact me

3D Oriental Cat Head

Been updating the blog/ website with some photos, get some examples of my work on these plain pages.  I have now managed to upload the prices on my 'Commission page' but i shall also put the examples here.

This is a 3D Oriental Cat Head, sculpted from 100% Norwegian wool, it is the size of an A4.  It took forever for me to create this small to medium sized head, and fix it to a flat surface, so that the weight of the head would not pull down. It works very well in 3D, as light in a room changes, so will this wonderful, life looking portrait, creating shadows and a whole different dimension and appearance; s if it was to walk out of the frame.

This was actually created from only 2 photos of my cat, i decided to place the head slightly to one side of the frame, i think it give it that little extra room for the nose, which protrudes somewhat.  The head is completely formed, and is correct throughout - meaning i haven't left any area scraggly, it is finished off to the very millimetre.  There is NO metal armature, NO sponge or foam to pad it out, it is completely 100% made form wool.  It has been formed using only 2 different types of needles.  It took me a approx 80/85hrs to make, not including fixing it to the frame.

I enjoy every minute of creating these life like, 3D, relief portraits and sculptures, and i hope i can create many more for others to enjoy.
